Rushing of Knot

The collective term “rushing” seems appropriate for those enormous flocks of knot that come speeding overhead in dark clouds. “With marvellously synchronised movements the vast army will serve and twist in swift manoeuvres, simultaneously turn sideways and become invisible. then materialise as multitudinous disciplined atoms, dimming the limpid ice-blue sky above the remote hummocks of the Mourne Mountains.” (Birds of the Grey Wind EA Armstrong)
