Lapwings over Scrabo
Image 284 of 409
The lapwings suddenly rise up and perform a marvellous sky-dance with their easy buoyant flight on floppy wings. Scrabo Tower, erected 1857, commemorates a romantic figure, the third Marquess of Londonderry. From the top of the tower the visitor can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Lough. The islands and coastline occupy the foreground, while, on clear days, there are views of the Isle of Man, Ailsa Craig and the Scottish coast to the east and the peaks of the Mournes to the south.
