Golden plover and Scrabo
Image 271 of 409
A flock of golden plovers wheel against Scrabo, one moment flashing white, the next a shower of gold. Scrabo Tower, erected 1857, commemorates a romantic figure, the third Marquess of Londonderry. From the top of the tower the visitor can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Lough. The islands and coastline occupy the foreground, while, on clear days, there are views of the Isle of Man, Ailsa Craig and the Scottish coast to the east and the Mournes to the south.
