Whilst all rag trees are special, this one is particularly so. Heaney writes: "Beside this tree is a stone which bears the imprint of the knee of St Patrick. The rain water that collected in this stone has healing powers, and the thorn bush beside it is pennanted with the rags used by those who rubbed their warts and sores in the water." (Sense of Place)
