The new Ulster Bank £5 and £10 polymer notes 2019

These are the UK and Ireland’s first main-issue vertical banknotes. The new note designs are centred around the theme Living in Nature.

The £5 note focuses on Northern Ireland as a place that people pass through and visit, highlighting the importance of the sea and migration. It features Strangford Lough and brent geese. The £10 note focuses on Northern Ireland as  a place of growth, both in terms of agriculture and heritage. It features Lough Erne, the Irish hare and guilder-rose flowers.

All the new banknotes  are printed on polymer, are much more durable than traditional paper-cotton, smaller, and are friendlier to the environment.

Patricia was honoured to be invited to contribute to the project.
